Baumard

Florent Baumard is one the most progressive and well rewarded, and recognised, producers in the Loire Valley producing mostly Chenin blanc based wines covering the spectrum from sparkling to dry and specialising in the production of sweet wines for which he has gained world reknown. Quarts de Chaume is the jewel in the crown here and it has been elevated to Grand cru status in the past decade making this tiny appellation the only Grand cru rated appellation dedicated to sweet wine production.

All still wines are now bottled under stelvin-luxe closure which is quite normal for Australia but rare in France. This estate has always been a leader for both viticulture and winemaking since the family purchased vines in Savennieres in the 1950's and the family has been challenging accepted practices rather than accepting the stubborn unwavering approach that some French have become so well known for.

Very simply the results are in the bottle - and the awards and admiration the world over for his wines is testimony to the remarkable quality of the wines and to his family's never ending pursuit to produce the best wines possible.
