Hughes & Hughes
The Hughes brothers Matthew and Jonathan, established Mewstone on a tiny 3.5ha vineyard at Flowerpot on the D'Entrecasteaux Channel in 2011. In a few short years they acquired a cult following creating demand far exceeding their vineyard output. And so Hughes & Hughes was born. Still very much boutique (500 dozen Pinot is currently the largest run), but drawing fruit from around Tasmania, Hughes & Hughes also provides a test-bed for small batch explorations of the impact of skins, stalks, solids and whatever other winemaking variables appeal to Jonny's enquiring mind.
