Here is a wonderful introduction to the wines of Austria. From the banks of the beautiful Danube come the wines of Salomon Undhof, established in 1792. There is a vibrant and spicy Grüner Veltliner, a classic Riesling from the 1ÖTW (1er Cru) Kögl vineyard and a beautifully pithy Riesling that spent 5 months on skins in a terracotta amphora.
From Kracher in Burgenland comes a textural Pinot Gris, a concentrated and complex Welschriesling and a silky-textured and Burgundy-like Zweigelt red. And of course a gorgeous not-too-sweet dessert wine, the Auslese Cuvée. Kracher is after all one of the world's undisputed masters of sweet wine.
