The wine was matured for 11 months in Cavin and St Martin barriques, 50 % of the oak was new. Game and spice-flecked red and dark cherry and berry fruits, suffused with scents of souk and medina, dried citrus rind, nicely judged vanillin oak, crushed rock, sous bois, roast duck, poached rhubarb, pomegranate and turned earth. Lovely superfine, sinewy tannins and a sapid, mineral line of acidity drive the wine forward, casting a graceful wake as it fades away.
