Château Mélin wines stand out for their natural finesse and balance. Recent vintages reveal: deep ruby hues, aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, vanilla and gentle spices with supple palates with velvety tannins and elegant, light-footed finish. These wines are approachable in their youth while offering genuine ageing potential.
The Château Mélin vineyard covers 10 hectares and benefits from a natural microclimate that encourages slow, balanced grape ripening.
The soils, formed from Quaternary alluvial deposits, are composed of brown sands and gravel. This healthy, well-draining structure is comparable to certain renowned terroirs of Pomerol and the western slopes of Saint-Émilion.
Vine roots penetrate deeply, drawing mineral richness from the soil and producing wines that are elegant, precise and generous—defined by finesse rather than sheer power.
In the cellar, the Debacque family favors a traditional and carefully managed approach that respects both fruit and terroir with approximately one month of maceration and fermentation in tanks with submerged cap management followed by 12 months of ageing in oak barrels which see regular renewal of barrels to maintain balanced oak influence.
Bottling is carried out at the estate, ensuring complete quality control. Annual production is deliberately limited to around 20,000 bottles.
