Languedoc & Roussillon
The diversity of terroirs of these large appellations is remarkable - and perhaps relatively late to be realised and unlocked by its recent producers. From the black schist soils in much of Roussillon to the solid limestone that also appears at the northern limits of Roussillon, there are also huge differences in elevation moving away from the coast.
Languedoc has some remarkable terroirs towards the north most especially around the Terrasses du Larzac appellation which was created in 2005. Here the soils are closer to the gravels found in Bordeaux before rising up into the limestone hills of the Auvergne.
Our two producers are regarded among the very best of the new generation who have unlocked the great potential of these remarkable terroirs. These wines deserve discovery.
